Claude's Dashboards: really good, but the judgment is on you
I tried Claude's new Dashboards and they're really good.
You ask for a sales dashboard and in minutes you've got a funnel, a heat map, comparisons and trends. You click on any number and see where it came from: the query, the formula, the rows.
For exploring data fast, it's one of the best things I've seen. And the Motion thing is seriously good!
I've been making them for a while, just in a slightly different way, with the same good results.
I build dashboards every day with my own system set up on Claude Code. Same AI.
The difference is one extra layer: judgment. It has a business intelligence module built in that makes it easier to know where to look.
Conversion is always calculated the same way. The week is a retail week. Every block answers a business question.
And it doesn't just show. It interprets.
"Saturday has 48% more customers than average."
"Between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., men become the majority. Adjust displays and messaging."
The automatic dashboard tells you what happened.
The one with judgment tells you what to do on Saturday at noon.
Claude builds the dashboard in five minutes.
Knowing what question it has to answer and how to read it took me several years.
AI doesn't replace that judgment. It multiplies it, if you have it.
