Data or insights?

Yesterday, after a webinar on turning data into decisions, I kept thinking about this:

These days, every company says it has data.
But few manage something much harder: understanding what it actually means.

It's not about choosing between gut feeling and technology.
It's about making the jump from having a number... to knowing what to do with it.

I see companies with shiny dashboards, weekly reports, tons of information.
And insights are still few and far between.

Why?
Because we keep measuring the same old things.
Looking for answers we already know.
And when something uncomfortable shows up... we'd rather doubt the data than rethink the strategy.

I work somewhere I have access to thousands of data points most people don't even know exist.
And that lets me see what's really happening in the store, not what we think is happening.

My job isn't just to analyze.
It's to translate.
To turn complexity into clarity.
Data into meaning.
Information into decisions that move the business.
